Launching, literally a Punk Credit Card.
Three exclusive credit cards featuring artwork from the iconic Sex Pistols albums, "Never Mind the Bollocks" and "Anarchy in the UK," were been released to the public 38 years after the band initially signed with Virgin Records. Unlike standard embossed designs, these cards are smooth to ensure the album artwork is prominently displayed.
Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, commented: "The Sex Pistols are an iconic band and an important part of Virgin’s history. Virgin Money is a bank that can be proud of its past, and I love the fact that the team has chosen to celebrate it in this way. Even after nearly 40 years, the Sex Pistols' power to provoke remains undiminished, as evidenced by ongoing requests to censor the word 'bollocks' in our advertising. Many things have changed over the decades, but clearly, some attitudes have not."
To mark the launch of these unique punk-inspired cards, an unforgettable event called "The Big TV Throw" was staged. This ultimate punk experience involved digitally live-streamed chaos where participants could use their contactless cards to control a trebuchet, hurling old televisions from hotel windows—a revival of the classic rock-and-roll tradition. Filmed using ten cameras, including a drone-operated unit, the event captured TVs soaring 100 meters from an eight-meter-high catapult. All televisions used were non-functional and responsibly recycled afterward by waste management company Willshee’s. The agency humorously noted that while no animals were harmed, a couple of pigeons "may have been startled" during the filming.
